Awareness-raising tool

An exciting new teaching tool to inform and inspire you!

For the school year 2010-2011, Handicap International has launched a new awareness-raising tool in three languages (English, French and German), aimed at young people and teachers.

A leading voice in the international campaign against landmines and cluster bombs, Handicap International has drawn on its experience as a key organisation working on demining, risk education and victim assistance to produce an engaging and comprehensive resource.

The DVD and website tell the story of how the actions of ordinary people around the world led to the international treaties banning landmines and cluster bombs. They provide young people with the information and skills to become active global citizens, allowing them to take action to raise awareness about these weapons, which have terrible consequences for civilians.

Our mascot, Beky (a cartoon crutch), guides you through the tool, which is packed full of facts and figures, films and photos. It also features real life stories from landmine and cluster bomb survivors and Handicap International deminers around the world.

This exciting new resource is an important part of Handicap International’s campaign to raise awareness about the situation faced by survivors, so that their needs are not forgotten.
